Independent organisations who can help

In this section

There are other organisations who can offer guidance about your pension and help with disputes.

Overview

In this section we have outlined independent organisations who can offer help and guidance.

MoneyHelper

MoneyHelper is a free and impartial government-backed service that provides clear guidance on money, pensions and debt in one place.

Through MoneyHelper you can:

  • Get help understanding your pension, including workplace, personal and state pensions.
  • Use tools and calculators to plan for retirement, manage borrowing, or budget more effectively.
  • Find free, confidential help with money worries and debt.

MoneyHelper does not sell products or offer regulated financial advice – it offers guidance so you can make informed decisions.

The Money and Pensions Service

The Money and Pensions Service is a UK government-sponsored organisation that helps people manage their money and pensions with confidence. It provides free, impartial guidance on money management, debt, and pensions through its services - MoneyHelper, Pension Wise, and The Pensions Advisory Service.

The Money and Pensions Service  also works with the financial sector, employers, and public bodies to improve financial wellbeing across the UK, aiming for everyone to make the most of their money and plan effectively for retirement.

The Pensions Ombudsman

The Pensions Ombudsman is an independent, statutory body set up by the UK government to investigate and resolve complaints and disputes about workplace and personal pension schemes.

Unlike services such as MoneyHelper (which give guidance), the Pensions Ombudsman can formally investigate complaints and issue legally binding decisions.

The Pensions Ombudsman do not deal with complaints about the compensation scheme.
